Creative Writing for Wellbeing
Using words to explore emotions, process experiences, and find healing.
Writing as Therapy
Writing helps organise thoughts, process emotions, and make sense of experiences.
You can write privately for yourself or share with others - both have value.
Research shows expressive writing can reduce anxiety, improve mood, and boost immune function.
Types of Therapeutic Writing
Journaling: Daily reflection on thoughts and feelings.
Poetry: Condensing emotions into powerful, meaningful words.
Fiction: Exploring experiences through characters and stories.
Letters: Writing to people, past selves, or emotions (sent or unsent).
Gratitude lists: Focusing on what's positive in your life.
Stream of consciousness: Free-writing without editing or judgment.

Getting Started

Don't worry about grammar, spelling, or making sense.
Write what feels true, not what you think you should say.
Keep your writing private if that helps you be more honest.
